Non-Diet Ways to Raise Kids: Podcast Round-Up!
If you’re a podcast lover, I’ve got good news! I’ve compiled a list of anti-diet podcasts devoted to my favorite topic: how to raise girls free from diet culture!
What’s included? Over a dozen conversations I had with some top podcast hosts while on tour promoting my book, Diet-Proof. We hash it out about mothering, dieting (mostly not dieting), food, body image, and more.
The best part: many of the women who interviewed me are professionals like psychologists, dietitians, and doctors, but even better, they’re almost all moms and they’re almost always willing to share their personal stories and struggles with food, with their daughters, and even with themselves with it comes to living in a world that’s obsessed with being thin.
Want to listen to them all? No problem! I compiled all the anti diet podcast episodes into one Spotify list that you can link to. Or, if that’s too much or you just don’t ‘Spotify’, you can also scroll further and find each show listed by host and topic as well as a link to their site.
And if you’re a superfan of a podcast that you’d love to hear me on—or you yourself are a host, please reach out via email. The more mothers and daughters we can help live free from diet culture, the better!
Wondering what diet culture is and if it’s impacting your family? No problem! I’ve got an article for that, “What is Diet Culture? Life-Changing Insights Every Mom Needs To Know.”

How to Make Feeding Kids Less Complicated
One Day You’ll Thank Me
Dr. Tara Egan is a child and adolescent therapist and parent coach who cohosts this podcast with her teenage daughter, Anna. I love how honest and real the conversations are, and listening is a great way to get insight into what young girls are really thinking. Anna wasn’t there for this particular episode, so I got off a little easy. Still, we tackled what to say and not to say, how to talk about food, how to have convos about our bodies, and more!

Healthy Eating is About So Much More Than Food
The Motherhood Village
Nicole Cumberbatch is a busy lady! She’s the founder of The Motherhood village, which creates community by organizing events to bring mothers together. In her podcast, we talk about how moms can climb out of food stress (you know that endless cycle of packing lunches, planning dinners, navigating snacks, over and over and over?).
Raising Kids to Have a Healthy Relationship with Food and Body
Real Life Momz with Lisa Foster
This was one of those podcast meet-ups where we kept talking long after the interview was over. Lisa also invited me into her Facebook group to answer additional questions she had gotten from her audience, which just goes to show how much she listens to the moms who listen to her and delivers on what they need! If you like her as much as I do, then you’ll find lots of audio gold in her podcast overall. It’s like sitting in on a convo with a few friends!
How to Diet-Proof Your Daughter
The Healthy Family
So Maryann Jacobsen, RD is the best reporter-dietitian of all time! Like, ever! She takes deep dives into nutrition topics that always seem to be right on par with what I’m going through in life. She’s the co-author of one of my absolute favorite child nutrition books, called Fearless Feeding, which I still use as a reference to this day. Now she’s explaining everything we need to know about menopause. If that change is on your radar, get on her substack, Midlife Strong, pronto! It’s free to start, and you will thank me, I promise.

Raising Non-Diet Families
Health Can’t Weight
I’m not sure if Maggie Landes knows this, but hers was the very first podcast interview I ever booked–and I was beyond excited about it! I remember hopping on a call with her while sitting in the front seat of our car during a family road trip. My girls and husband took a break to grab a snack and some gas at a Wawa while I had a five-minute conversation with the first anti-diet pediatrician I’d ever met–and it’s one that I will never forget. Her podcast is no longer but all the episodes (and her sense of humor) live on!

Quitting Dieting and Re-Centering Yourself Through Running
Michigan Runner Girl
This may be one of my favorite interviews because I got to take a walk down memory lane and retell the story of how I recovered from my obsession with dieting. Running was a huge part of my recovery. I’m so grateful to Heather for having me on! (And Pssst! Her own story is a good one too. You don’t need to be a runner to get something from this episode–just a person who wants to rethink their relationship to movement. Enjoy!
