Showing our daughters a different way…

When she complains about her weight or body, you probably want to rush in and say, “You’re perfect just the way you are.”

But the truth is, that’s not enough to erase the immense pressure she’s facing when it comes to looking, eating, and being healthy.

And when it comes to living up to “healthy” ideals, more often than not girls focus on trying to lose weight to do it.

If your daughter’s worried about her body or weight, here’s a fact you need her to know: Weight loss isn’t the answer. And dieting is dangerous: it’s the number one risk factor for eating disorders. Dieting linked with depression, lower self-esteem, and poorer overall health.

For those of us who’ve ever been on the dieting, calorie-counting, body loathing rollercoaster ourselves, focusing on weight loss as a way to feel our worth is a mistake we never want our daughters to repeat.

NourishHer is here to help you find the perfect way to help your unique daughter have a positive, peaceful relationship with food while also helping you make sure she’s as healthy as can be… body, mind, and soul.

Well, hello! I’m Amelia, a nutrition therapist and mom (of course!)

For decades, I struggled with dieting, obsessing over my ever-changing weight, and worrying about everything I ate. Luckily, in my thirties, I finally made (relative!) peace with my body and food—life became infinitely happier, easier, and healthier.

However, after becoming a mother, my relationship with food began to shift once more.

Being in charge of my daughters\’ eating brought back a lot of my anxieties about food. It felt impossible to teach my daughters to make good choices without imposing limits and restrictions on them.

I knew I had to figure it out or they\’d be doomed to develop the dieting mentality that I (and so many other women I\’ve known) had grown accustomed to.

By combining the principles of intuitive eating with best practices for raising healthy eaters, I created my own method for approaching food parenting—one that moms like me feel comfortable with and appreciate!

And the best part, which I soon discovered, is that when we moms intentionally raise girls who have body confidence and a solid set of eating skills, we end up strengthening those things in ourselves over and over again too!
